Tell us a bit about yourself I have two daughters - three and 12 - and enjoy cooking and days out with my family. We like to be creative and get out in the fresh air.
How did you get into tech? I had a summer job at The O2 as a student, for the company that sells the hospitality boxes - that inspired me to apply for a job in events, and I was lucky enough to get a job producing IT conferences. This wasn't something I'd seen myself doing, but I loved learning about the IT and tech industry, and how it is a crucial part of all other industries.
Do you feel that women are supported in tech? Coming from a marketing & events perspective, it's probably easier for women as it's traditionally seen as a more female role. I would say that the tech industry isn't a 9-to-5 one - there's a lot of out-of-hours events and hospitality, but there's a lot of give-and-take and a positive approach to flexible working. As a mum, it's really important that I have the option of flexible working, and I love being able to be there when my kids get home, cook dinner, and then get back to my work later in the evening.
What’s your favourite thing about your job? Exhibitions! I really enjoy the buzz of a show, and seeing the booths and the technology that's being released from other manufacturers.
Where do you see yourself in ten years? I'd like to continue to move up in the company and experience new things. It's exciting to see how Clevertouch is evolving and I'm excited to be a part of it.
Do you have any tips for other women wanting to start a career in tech? We all use tech every day, it's no longer an exclusively male industry. Give it a try! It's fast-paced and attracts passionate people who enjoy working hard.
