Digital Transformation in 2021

For over a decade, we’ve all been talking about digital transformation, and how it can improve efficiency and productivity.

As millennials and Gen-Z have joined the workplace, these digital natives have expected, and in some cases demanded, that companies embrace new technologies to aid workflows. However, while we are all used to answering an email from home, true digital transformation has been slow to happen for many. Roadblocks have historically been put in place as managers have questioned the productivity of home-workers, and IT departments have voiced concerns over security.

This digital transformation has been a long time coming, with most companies previously having discussions about implementing a strategy, or having some success from a small number of colleagues. In the wake of the pandemic, those who hadn’t put together a strategy quickly discovered how vulnerable they are. Streamlining communication for remote workers was key, as was accessing software and improving cybersecurity weak spots.

In early 2020, organisations were looking at digital transformation in a way that they had never previously considered, and the benefits of it go beyond the covid crisis. Suddenly, we are not limited by transport issues, time differences, extreme weather conditions, or family commitments.

The world, as we keep being told, has changed. We’ve all adapted to a new way of life, and whilst many are keen to return to the office and face-to-face meetings one or two days a week, most do not wish to return to five days a week in the office. And organisations would do well to listen to what their employees want. People have more time and money by working from home, which has both physical and mental health benefits. If the workforce is healthier and happier, then production naturally increases.

Companies will need to become increasingly agile in the new flexible workplace. With staff working from home or in the office on different days, meetings being reintroduced will require both in-room and video-conferencing technology. The changes that we have seen over the past year are an example of the permanent future, and companies need to work as successfully as a hybrid business as they did when team members were in-house.

The Clevertouch Technologies ecosystem is a family of products that can assist and enhance this digital transformation. The room booking system which communicates with both Microsoft Exchange or Office 365 calendars can simplify the management of meeting spaces. The cloud based digital signage solution gives the ability to display corporate information and as companies prepare to return to the office can show health rules and regulations to keep everyone safe. Within the meeting spaces the enterprise multi purpose touch screens and non touch commercial grade displays allows you to interactively collaborate with colleagues even when they are not in the same room.
