We’ve got this

Peter Brown, Corporate & HE/FE Specialist

The past six months have been the most disruptive period in recent memory. As we raised our glasses at midnight on the 31st of December to welcome in the new decade no one would have known how 2020 would pan out. The thought of furlough, wearing face coverings and keeping two metres apart from each other would have seemed unimaginable.

Were we prepared for this?

Technology has moved on rapidly over the past 15 years. What if this situation had happened in 2005? Things that we now take for granted everyday didn’t exist then. Our networks were not the way they are today, most households would be using a slow dial up connection so working from home would have been a completely different experience. The way we watch movies, listen to music, shop and communicate (social media) has substantially changed. Video calling was complicated, limited and expensive as both parties needed fully installed VC systems.

Mobile phones were very basic until the launch of the iPhone in 2007, the evolution of the multi-function App based smartphone would change and simplify how we communicate with each other and how we work.
We never expected a pandemic to stop us in our tracks but the technology we have now makes it easier for us to cope and manage the situation.

In 2009 the Clevertouch interactive display was introduced to the market with an initial focus on Education. In 2015 the Clevertouch Pro was launched, designed specifically for non-education meeting spaces. Over the past 5 years this has been in constant development with added features and functionality. In February we launched the all-in-one, enterprise, multi-use UX Pro touchscreen.

As we all gradually get back to work you may find that people split their time between office and home working. The video calling (Zoom, Teams etc.) we’ve been doing on a personal level can now be used in the workplace but it needs to be simple, collaborative and interactive. The UX Pro gives you the ability to get more out of your meetings, wherever you are working from. It enables users to do simple whiteboarding, annotate on programmes and documents both in-room or via a video call.

It has a built-in digital signage platform that enables the end user to personalise the screen with company information or welcome messages. Also, at this time show safe work guidelines, health information or messaging for the meeting space.

So, when I ask again, were we prepared for this?

The answer is no.

Can we manage it?

The answer is definitely yes.
