Newspaper Reports

KS2 - English - Newspaper Reports

Learning Intention:

To recognise the features of newspaper reports

Top Tips:

  • Look for features in newspapers you have at home.

  •

Search news websites and look for patterns in how they organise their articles. What similarities and differences are there with paper news articles?

Ideas for afterwards:

  • Research a news story that you would like to create a report for. Interview people in your house or via your phone for their opinions or witness statements.

  • Draft each part of your story – make the headline and orientation especially effective as they need to grab the reader’s attention.

  • Write your news stories on strips of paper to model newspaper columns. Easy to edit, cut and stick onto a larger sheer when planning your layout.
