To recognise the features of newspaper reports
Look for features in newspapers you have at home.
Search news websites and look for patterns in how they organise their articles. What similarities and differences are there with paper news articles?
Ideas for afterwards:
Research a news story that you would like to create a report for. Interview people in your house or via your phone for their opinions or witness statements.
Draft each part of your story – make the headline and orientation especially effective as they need to grab the reader’s attention.
Write your news stories on strips of paper to model newspaper columns. Easy to edit, cut and stick onto a larger sheer when planning your layout.
